FOR YOUNG PEOPLE AND THEIR ADULTS

The 8-week program is for students currently in high school/ensino medio/escuela secundaria AND for young adults already at university or in the job market. This program was designed for young people between the ages of 15 and 25 who live, study, and/or work in any country around the globe.

We have four 75-minute private sessions and four 60-minute group sessions where you get to practice the tools learned during your private sessions. The curriculum for this program is pre-set.

These are the topics we cover:
Identifying personal interests, aptitudes, and priorities.
Understanding and analyzing career clusters and conducting in-depth research about careers that stand out.
Researching the labor market, and interpreting data such as growth trends and salaries. We cover different countries according to the student’s interest.
Investigating educational paths, including university majors and curricula, that prepare for the careers that are standing out.
Communicating professionally with adults already in the job market working on careers of interest.
Conducting informational interviews with professionals working on careers that are standing out.
Identifying professional networks to continue building connections, researching careers, and creating opportunitites such as internships.

If you want total freedom to focus on specific topics or special areas of the 8-week program, I suggest a SINGLE WORK SESSION (75 minutes) or an EXPLORATORY CALL to discuss needs, packets, and discounts.

I am always delighted when I hear about a supporting adult who would like to be involved in a young person’s process! We will include the supporting adult, yes (unless the young person prefers not to), just not in person during our meetings.
We include supporting adults through specific exploration exercises that are part of the program. In addition, every private meeting with the young person is recorded in full and shared with the supporting adult who the young person designates.

Yes. I am a former college counselor who worked with high school students applying to universities all over the globe for many years. While I don’t offer university list-building anymore, I have many highly qualified colleagues who I would be glad to recommend.
What I do offer is help with the application process itself, after you have developed a college/university list. If you need help developing application materials (especially essays) for highly competitive universities in the US and Canada, I would be happy to work with you.

My approach to career counseling was born out of my frustration with the traditional methods that prioritize personality and vocational testing.
Another frustration was difficulty finding career counseling materials designed for the specific developmental needs of teenagers and young adults.
I do value and use vocational and psychological testing, of course. I hold a Master’s degree in Human Development and Psychology from the Harvard Graduate School of Education. (Within the program, I specialized in adolescent development). It would be foolish to do career counseling without attending to matters of psychology, adolescent development, and vocation!
At the same time, I am also a social scientist (PhD in Applied Anthropology from Brandeis University). I am deeply aware that we live in societies and cultures that shape the world of work in which our young people will insert themselves. As guides to this world, it is incumbent upon us to help our students develop the skills necessary to understand and interact confidently with such reality on the ground.
Serving as a bridge between our students and the world outside of school is an awesome responsibility. In my experience, career counselors know this, and many love the work precisely because of its importance.
However, many of you also tell me that you are frustrated because you feel something is missing. I believe that what is missing is a comprehensive approach that addresses psychological and vocational tendencies as well as the broader world of work on the ground.
This training offers tools for career counselors who want to offer their students a more comprehensive approach. We can help our students not only find more clarity but also fall in love with what is next in their educational and professional journeys.
Each cohort is limited to 10 spots.
